Not that I'm going to buy a new map for my nuvi from Garmin at the price they want, it just would not be worth it. Far better would be to invest a little more in a new GPS with a fresh map, Or maybe it is time to use an Android tablet with GPS or even an Android phone rather than stick with Garmin units that make it so tough to resolve issues like this.

I had a lot of trouble getting the full country OSM map working on my 4 year old nuvi. But I was advised to upgrade to firmware 5. I used Garmin's update tool, and I'm now being told that I'm running Firmware 7. Don't have a change log that tells me what happened up to version 7. And I can put an additional map on my 8 gig microSD card and switch to that when I want as well.

So if anyone else is trying to get OSM maps working on a or W and likely other older nuvis , updating your firmware through the Garmin website is a good way to start.
